Oneg is the Joy of the Shabbat. In Isaiah 58 G-d instructs us to ,”Call the Shabbat a delight”, and so we do. The most important aspect of an Oneg is the people. Just like with all of Judaism, It’s about G-d and people hanging out together. When the sacrificial system was intact families would bring their offerings to the Temple and share a meal with G-d, each other, and the priest along with his family. Our Synagogue is renown for its warmth, and we cannot afford to take that for granted. Since we say our love is our priority, we take action in accordance with that. Fellowship may not be synonymous with food, but sharing food together is definitely fellowship. We have special onegs during holidays and for special celebrations. Come and join us! We have lots of fun sharing G-d’s love!!!
